Technician

Position OverviewExperience Education / Certificates Career Path

General Service Technician
  • Changing, mounting, and installing tires.
  • Wheel removal, tire repair and balance, tire patch/plug repairs
  • Vehicle service duties such as lubrications and oil changes
  • Basic automobile maintenance work, battery installation
  • Performs Courtesy Inspections with supervision
  • Begins to perform duties of Technician such as alignments, basic brake services and scheduled maintenance services under the direction of the manager on duty
0-2 years’ experience.
  • Auto technician training program in high school or vocational school desired.
  • State Inspector license desired (if applicable)
Technician

Technician
  • Responsibilities include those performed by General Service Technicians
  • Diagnoses and repairs brake systems, exhaust systems, shocks and struts, alignments and other under car care services offered by Monro.
  • May audit the courtesy inspections performed by General Service technicians and performs additional work identified during the audit as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Begins to perform duties of a Lead Technician under the direction of the manager on duty
Minimum two (2) years automotive repair experience.
  • Automotive technical school certificate/degree desired.
  • State Inspector license desired (if applicable)
Lead Technician, Technician Team Lead, Assistant Manager or Service Manager

Lead Technician
  • Responsibilities include those performed by General Service Technicians and Technicians
  • May also service fuel systems, emission systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems and heating, cooling systems and other car care services offered by Monro.
  • May audit the courtesy inspections performed by General Service technicians and performs additional work identified during the audit as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum four (4) years automotive repair experience.
  • Automotive technical school certificate/degree desired.
  • State Inspector license desired (if applicable)
Technician Team Lead, Assistant Manager or Service Manager

Service Area Leadership

Technician Team Lead
  • Manages all vehicle services, equipment and vehicle service teammates to increase capacity utilization through efficient/effective processing of tire and services at small volume stores.
  • Regularly works on cars and performs diagnostics.
  • Ensures Courtesy Inspections that were performed by technicians are completed with quality to educate guests and maximize sales.
  • Manages the back of the store including vehicle services and equipment.
  • Approximately 50% of the time this role acts as the Manager on Duty in the absence of store manager.
  • While acting as manager this role handles all guest needs in areas of sales, service, complaints and adjustments.
  • Responsible for the quality and consistent execution of Monro processes and services
  • Minimum four (4) years auto service technician experience
  • Prior sales experience desired or demonstrated sales capability through on the job training
  • Automotive technical school certificate/degree desired.
  • State Inspector license desired (if applicable)
Service Manager or Store Manager

Service Manager
  • Manages all vehicle services, equipment and vehicle service teammates to increase capacity utilization through efficient/effective processing of tire and services at large volume stores.
  • Ensures all Courtesy Inspections are completed with quality to educate guests and maximize sales.
  • Manages the back of the store including vehicle services and equipment.
  • Flexes to the front of the store if demand requires or if the store manager is not available.
  • Supervises work of technicians and service personnel and assists in sophisticated diagnostics as needed.
  • Responsible for the quality and consistent execution of Monro processes and services
  • Minimum four (4) years auto service technician experience
  • Prior sales experience desired or demonstrated sales capability through on the job training
  • Automotive technical school certificate/degree desired.
  • State Inspector license desired (if applicable)
Store Manager

Store Management and Sales

Assistant Store Manager
  • Introduces tire and service products to customers.
  • Handles all guest needs in areas of sales, service, complaints and adjustments.
  • Administers sales promotion programs and solicits Fleet opportunities.
  • Maximizes sales and customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
  • Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the store manager.
Two (2) years of sales experience preferred
Two (2) year associates degree desired
Store Manager or Service Manager

Store Manager
  • Manages retail store location operations and ensures that tire unit sales, automobile service sales, customer retention, and overall operating profit opportunities are maximized.
  • Coaches, leads, and develops the entire store staff to support the store activities
  • Develops long-term relationships with present and new store customers.
  • Introduces tire and service products to guests to help maximize sales and customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention.
4 years store sales positions or two years in Service Area Leadership role (Service Manager or Technician Team Lead)
  • Two (2) year associates degree desired.
  • Automotive technical school certificate/degree desired.
Certified Training Store Manager or District Manager

Certified Training Store Manager
  • Performs all duties of a Store Manager
  • Trains new store managers in the district on Monro processes and focus areas
4 years store sales positions or two years in Service Area Leadership role (Service Manager or Technician Team Lead)
  • Two (2) year associates degree desired.
  • Automotive technical school certificate/degree desired.
